The Egyptian Museum in Cairo was one of the highlights of any of our
eclipse trips to date. An enormous slice of history housed in an old
building with worn floors, worn display cases, no air conditioning and
more mummies than you could throw a band-aid at. The atmosphere in this
place was incredible and I just wanted to spend a night there with the
lights out. If this collection was displayed in a large modern museum
it just would not be the same. This building was designed especially to
house Egyptian treasures and was officially opened in 1902. What a
treasure to have in your capital city. Bravo to the Egyptians and shame
on us westerners for nicking their history over the years. Give it all
back I say!
